Hokkaido is the most extreme winter climate in Japan — Sapporo averages -7°C to 0°C in January, snow is heavy, and JR services occasionally shut down during blizzards. First-time winter visitors typically make three categories of mistakes: over-packing the itinerary (4+ hours of transit per day), under-packing the gear (a "winter coat" from a milder climate functions as a windbreaker at -8°C), and booking too late (Snow Festival week in Sapporo is the booking to make first). This 7-day plan paces the trip as "3 cities, deep" rather than "7 sites, surface," paired with 12 common Hokkaido winter mistakes — so you don't spend your trip on transit.
Why 7 days? Hokkaido's actual size
Hokkaido covers 83,000 square kilometers — more than 2x the size of Taiwan and roughly equal to Austria. Sapporo to Hakodate by JR limited express takes just under 4 hours; Sapporo to Furano via Asahikawa takes 2.5 hours. First-time visitors often plan Hokkaido using a "Tokyo 5-day" mental model and end up spending half their trip on trains. The logic of this 7-day design:
- Three cities, not seven. Sapporo (with Otaru as a day trip) + Biei/Furano + Hakodate. Each city gets 2-3 nights so you're not packing every day.
- Only two long transfers (Day 6 and the day-8 ride to the airport). JR limited express plus Yamato (Kuroneko) luggage shipping means you don't haul large bags between regions.
- Day 5 stays flexible. Hokkaido weather changes fast; January-February blizzards halt JR lines regularly. The day-5 buffer absorbs this risk.
Five-day version: drop Hakodate, run Sapporo 3 + Furano 2. Ten-day version: extend east — winter is when the Kushiro Marsh red-crowned cranes gather on the snow and Lake Akan freezes over (Day 8 — if you want to fish on it, read up on permits and the two separate timelines first), an Abashiri drift-ice cruise (Day 9), then Shiretoko's drift ice and World Natural Heritage coast (Day 10).
Day 1: Arrive Sapporo + ramen alley
Most international flights arrive Sapporo afternoon. Day 1 goal: collect bags → reach the city → eat something hot → sleep early to fight jet lag. Don't schedule key sights — your body is still on home time.
- 14:00 Land at New Chitose Airport. The airport's connecting concourse has a full UNIQLO on the 2F level. If your home parka isn't warm enough, this is your last comfortable shopping window. The airport convenience stores also sell ¥3,500-5,000 snow boots.
- 15:30 JR Rapid Airport to downtown Sapporo. About 37–44 minutes, ¥1,230 in a non-reserved seat.
- 16:30 Hotel check-in. Stay within a five-minute walk of JR Sapporo Station for the next 3 days of city base. Compare prices on Trip.com Sapporo hotels.
- 18:30 Dinner: ramen yokocho. Susukino's "Ganso Ramen Yokocho" packs 17 noodle shops side by side. For miso ramen, try Shirakaba Sanso or Shodai. Bowls run ¥1,000-1,300; pair with a ¥500 Sapporo Classic.
- 21:00 Sleep early. Sapporo sunset is 16:30 in winter, the city goes night mode by 17:00. First night: don't fight the jet lag.

Day 2: Sapporo deep dive (Odori, Mt. Moiwa)
Sapporo city core is doable in one day if you split the timing: morning at Odori Park area (better light, fewer people), evening at Mt. Moiwa (the iconic city panorama).
- 09:00 Odori Park + Sapporo TV Tower. The park's snow-covered length under the red TV tower is the city's signature winter shot. TV Tower observatory ¥1,200 — skippable if you're doing Mt. Moiwa later.
- 11:00 Hokkaido Shrine + Maruyama Park. Subway Tozai Line to Maruyama Koen station. The torii gate framed by deep snow photographs strongly. Around New Year (early January) the park is buried in deep snow, so good boots matter here.
- 13:00 Lunch: Nemuro Hanamaru rotating sushi (Sapporo Stellar Place 6F). The entry point to Hokkaido seafood. Sea urchin ¥600 a piece, hokkigai (surf clam) ¥350 — expect a 30-minute lunch wait.
- 14:30 Sapporo Beer Museum. Free entry, with a basement tasting room offering ¥200 per 100ml pours (try Black, Classic, and Edel Pils side by side).
- 16:30 Mt. Moiwa ropeway. Take the city tram to "Ropeway Iriguchi" station. Cable car round-trip ¥2,100. The summit observatory is one of Sapporo's "million-dollar night views" — go up at 17:00 to catch sunset and city lights changing simultaneously. The ropeway is closed on 31 December and 1 January.
- 20:00 Dinner: "Daruma" Genghis Khan grill (Susukino). Susukino institution. Most branches take no reservations, so you queue; if you want a booking, check the official branch list for the one that takes them.

Day 3: Otaru canal day trip

Otaru is the ideal Sapporo day trip. JR from Sapporo: about 35–40 minutes by rapid or about 50 by local train, ¥800 either way. Frequent service. All Otaru highlights are walkable from the station, so leave your bags at the Sapporo hotel.
- Around 09:30 depart Sapporo → about 10:10 arrive Otaru Station.
- 10:30 Sakaimachi-dori shopping street + glass workshops. Kitaichi Glass Hall 3 is mandatory; ¥3,000-12,000 hand-blown glassware makes premium souvenirs. The original LeTAO double-cheese cake shop is on this street: takeaway ¥1,800, dine-in ¥980 with a drink.
- 12:30 Lunch: seafood don at Otaru Sankaku Market. Takinami Shokudo is the landmark; uni-ikura don ¥3,500, mixed five-topping ¥2,800. The same bowls usually cost more at Sapporo Nijo Market.
- 14:30 Otaru Canal walk. Already beautiful in winter daylight. If your trip overlaps the Snow Light Path festival (Feb 6-13 in 2027), the canal is lined with snow lanterns after dark.
- 16:30 Tenguyama ropeway. Optional. ¥2,000 winter round-trip. The summit gives a panorama of Otaru, Ishikari Bay, and Sapporo direction.
- 18:30 Return to Sapporo. JR runs every 15-30 minutes.
Day 4: Asahiyama Zoo + Biei Blue Pond
Day 4 is the move from Sapporo to the Furano/Biei area, with a side trip through Asahikawa. We recommend shipping your large bags via Yamato (Kuroneko) directly to the Furano hotel (¥1,800, arrives same afternoon) — travel light during this transit day. JR times from Day 4 onward are from the December 2026 timetable; recheck them if you travel from January onward.
- 08:00 Sapporo → Asahikawa (Limited Express Lilac, 1h25, ¥5,440, all seats reserved — Pass holders still need a seat reservation).
- 09:25 Arrive Asahikawa → 09:40 bus to Asahiyama Zoo (arrive 10:22, ¥670). Board at stop 6 in front of Asahikawa Station; Suica and the other nationwide IC cards are not accepted. Bus times for this day are from last winter's timetable. This winter's has not been published yet, so recheck once it is.
- From 10:30 Asahiyama Zoo (stay until about 13:00). The winter-only "Penguin Walk" starts only once there is enough snow: last season it ran from 18 December to mid-March, this season's dates are not out yet, and in early December you will not see it. Last season's walks were at 11:00 and 14:30 (11:00 only in March). Catch the 11:00 one; the 14:30 walk is too late for this day's plan. The polar bear, seal, and red panda houses are also strong. Admission ¥1,000. This winter the zoo opens 11 November to 7 April 2027, 10:30–15:30 (last entry 15:00), closed 30 December–1 January.

The winter-only "Penguin Walk" is Asahiyama's signature event — king penguins parade through the zoo's snow-packed paths. - 14:35 JR Furano Line from Asahikawa → 15:08 arrive Biei (¥680). Do not miss this train: the next one leaves at 15:33 and reaches Biei at 16:06, too late for the 15:34 Blue Pond bus. Take the 13:10 bus from the zoo, which reaches Asahikawa Station at 13:50. The next one leaves at 13:40 and arrives at 14:23, leaving 12 minutes to change; do not gamble on that in snow.
- 15:34 Dohoku Bus from Biei Station → 15:56 Shirogane Aoi-ike Iriguchi (Blue Pond). Winter evening illumination; once snow falls you will not see blue water — it is snow and lights. Start time depends on the month (Oct–Nov and Jan 17:00 / Dec 16:30 / Feb 17:30 / Mar 18:00), ending at 21:00 every night. The last bus from the pond back to Biei leaves at 18:05, so plan the evening by month:
- Late October to February: bus back to Biei the same day. Watch the lights until the 18:05 last bus (Biei 18:30), wait about 45 minutes at Biei Station, then take the 19:15 JR Furano Line train, arriving Furano 19:56 (¥800). You reach the pond at 15:56, so dress for waiting outdoors until the lights come on; in February they start at 17:30, which leaves about half an hour once you subtract the walk.
- To add Shirahige Falls: stay one night at Shirogane Onsen (late October to January). After the lights, take the 17:37 last bus from the same stop to Shirogane Onsen (17:41) and walk to Shirogane Bridge for the Shirahige Falls illumination (year-round, sunset to 21:00). Send big luggage to Furano as planned and continue there the next morning.
- March onward: the lights start after the last bus leaves, so the bus only works one way: the 17:15 from Biei reaches the pond at 17:37, then a taxi back, or go by taxi throughout.
- Furano hotel check-in (bus-back version). If you plan to ski, stay at New Furano Prince Hotel: it sits directly on the Furano Zone of the ski resort, so the slopes are outside the door. The café Mori no Tokei (珈琲 森の時計) is a separate building in the woods about five minutes' walk from the hotel, open 12:00–20:00 (last order 19:00), with 17 seats and no reservations; check the official café page before you walk over. If you would rather be next to the station and walk into town at night, pick Furano Natulux, one minute from JR Furano Station. It has no ski shuttle, so you take the public bus up the next morning. If you stayed at Shirogane Onsen, book these from Day 5.
Day 5: Furano skiing, or a non-ski alternative
This is your flexible day. Pick option A or B based on weather and energy. If you stayed at Shirogane Onsen, take the 09:16 Dohoku Bus (you can hop off at the Blue Pond at 09:19 for the daytime snow view and catch the 10:05). Reach Biei at 09:44 and you connect to the 10:14 JR Furano Line train, arriving Furano 10:58 (¥800), with skiing from after lunch; reach Biei at 10:30 after the pond stop and the next train is the 12:09, arriving 12:43, which leaves only the afternoon.
Option A: Furano Ski Resort (good for first-timers)
- 09:00 Get to the slopes. Furano has powder snow and a full range of beginner-to-intermediate runs. How you get up depends on where you slept:
- New Furano Prince: walk out of the hotel onto the Furano Zone. No bus needed.
- Natulux, by the station: take a Furano Bus from stop 4 in front of Furano Station. On the year-round timetable the only morning departure is the 08:10 Goryo Line (about 10 minutes to the Kitanomine side, ¥170), and the next bus toward the resort is 11:38. Last winter three extra buses ran daily from 1 December to 31 March at 08:00, 08:50 and 09:40, through to New Furano Prince. This winter's extras have not been announced yet, so check the Furano Bus site before you go.
- Before late December: the Kitanomine Zone is scheduled to open in late December this season and close on 22 March, and until it opens only the Prince side is running, so the 08:10 bus does not reach an open slope. From the station, take the 11:38 bus or a taxi (about 6 km and 12 minutes to New Furano Prince).

Some of Furano's runs have been used for FIS World Cup races. - Rentals: a ski set (skis, poles, boots) or snowboard set (board, boots) is ¥8,100 a day, or ¥13,600 with jacket, pants and helmet (2025–26 prices; 2026–27 not yet published).
- Lessons: a two-hour group lesson at Furano Ski School on the Kitanomine side is ¥6,000, taught in Japanese, sign-up on the day. English and Chinese are private lessons only and must be booked ahead, priced separately. On the Prince side, the Kimura Kiminobu ski school on the hotel's GF floor runs a two-hour beginner lesson at ¥19,000, booked ahead by phone or email. These are also 2025–26 prices. For a true first-timer, start with a two-hour lesson.
- Day lift pass ¥9,000 for 2026–27 (5 Dec–22 Mar); ¥7,500 in the opening week (28 Nov–4 Dec) and from 23 Mar. Children up to elementary-school age ride free. Lunch at Downhill, the restaurant beside the ropeway summit station.
- 16:00 Off the slopes and into the bath. New Furano Prince has a natural hot spring, Shisai-no-Yu; hotel guests pay ¥800 per adult and ¥500 per child (age 4 to elementary school) unless the room plan includes a bath ticket. Natulux has an in-house bath, which the hotel does not bill as onsen. If you came up by bus, finish earlier: the last public bus leaves New Furano Prince at 15:55, and the Kitanomine side at 16:01 and 16:41.
Option B: Hoshino TOMAMU — this connection no longer exists
So how do you actually get to TOMAMU? Enter from New Chitose Airport or Sapporo, and give it an overnight rather than hanging it off your Furano day. While we are here, three more numbers that get copied around incorrectly: the Frost Tree Terrace (Unkai Gondola) round trip is ¥2,500 for adults, not ¥3,500 (free with a lift ticket); Mina-Mina Beach day admission is ¥2,600, not ¥2,000; and the Ice Village "opening" does not mean every ice structure is open — the Ice Chapel runs only 20 Jan to 14 Feb 2027 and the Ice Hotel only to 20 Feb. Full transport, lift and Ice Village timing windows are in our Hoshino TOMAMU guide.
What to do with the day instead: if you are not skiing, stay around Furano and Biei, or head north to Asahiyama Zoo — the winter penguin walk is the single best set piece in this part of Hokkaido, with access and admission covered in that guide. Option A, skiing at Furano, is unaffected.
Day 6: Long transit to Hakodate
The longest transit day, but also the best window-watching day for snow scenery.
- 07:41 Furano → Sapporo (arrive 09:55, 2h14, ¥4,760 / Pass-free). There is no direct limited express in winter: take the 07:41 local to Takikawa and change to Limited Express Kamui 10. Ship bags ahead to your Hakodate hotel.
- 10:56 Sapporo → Hakodate (Limited Express Hokuto 10). 3h44, ¥9,770 / Pass-free. The route passes Oshamambe, Lake Toya, and Onuma Park — continuous snow scenery is the journey's highlight.
- 14:40 Arrive Hakodate Station. For Hakodate lodging, "La Vista Hakodate Bay" has top-floor hot-spring baths and sits in the bay area, about 15 minutes on foot from the station; "Hotel Resol Hakodate" is the no-fuss budget pick, a three-minute walk from the station. Compare on Trip.com Hakodate hotels.
- 15:15 Hakodate Morning Market (still open until 17:00). Sea urchin, hairy crab, scallops are signatures; ¥2,500 three-color don is the entry point.
- 17:00 Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses. The harbor brick complex has winter snow-night illumination; entry is free.
- 18:00 Mount Hakodate ropeway for the night view. Take the tram from Hakodate-ekimae to Jujigai and walk up to the base station; ¥1,800 round-trip. In winter (1 October–19 April) the last car up is 20:30 and the last down 21:00, so go up first and eat afterwards. If you ride tonight, you can drop the Day 7 morning ride.
- 19:30 Dinner after you come down: Hakodate Lucky Pierre's burgers. The Hakodate Western specialty; ¥980 Chinese chicken rice (sounds odd, but it's a local famous item).
Day 7: Hakodate morning market + Motomachi + Goryokaku, then the day-8 train to the airport
Spend the whole day in Hakodate, sleep there again tonight, and fly home on day 8. Flights from New Chitose to Taiwan leave between midday and mid-afternoon, so if you sightsee in Hakodate on day 7 and then ride back, there is no flight left when you reach the airport.
- 06:00 Hakodate morning market freshly-cut seafood don. 6:00-7:30 is the freshest window. Akebono Shokudo serves a ¥2,800 five-color don.
- 08:30 Motomachi district walk. Hachiman-zaka downhill is the postcard view of Hakodate; old British Consulate ¥300, Russian Orthodox Church exterior is free.
- 11:00 Mount Hakodate ropeway daytime. ¥1,800 round-trip. Snow days reduce visibility but cut the crowd dramatically.
- 13:30 Goryokaku Tower + Goryokaku Park. ¥1,200 to the tower for the star-shaped fortress under snow. Winter snow makes the star fortress shape unusually crisp from above.
- Evening: back to the hotel for a second Hakodate night. If cloud hid the night view on Day 6, go up Mount Hakodate again tonight; the last car up is still 20:30.

Day 8 morning: Hakodate back to New Chitose Airport
- 08:56 depart Hakodate Station → 12:17 arrive New Chitose Airport. Limited Express Hokuto 5 to Minami-Chitose, then Rapid Airport into the terminal, ¥8,910. With time to spare at the airport, the Hokkaido Ramen Dojo is there for one last bowl.
- Check your own departure time first. On the winter schedule, direct flights from New Chitose to Taiwan leave between midday and mid-afternoon, the last one that runs every day departs at about 15:20, and no international flight leaves the airport after 18:15. Count back from your departure and aim to be at the airport two hours ahead: the 08:56 train works for flights leaving after 14:17, not for the midday ones, which need the 06:02 Hokuto 1 (arriving at the airport 09:26). Flight times and operating days change, so go by the flight you actually booked.
- If you are on the 18:15 flight: it is the last one to Taiwan and does not run every day. The latest train for it is the 12:14 Hokuto 11, arriving at the airport at 15:37.
- Start the 7-day Rail Pass on Day 2. The Pass runs for seven consecutive days, so one started on Day 1 has expired by this ride. Started on Day 2 it lasts through day 8; buy a single ticket for the Day 1 airport-to-Sapporo leg (¥1,230).
If you have to fly on day 7: eat breakfast at the morning market and take the same 08:56 train, reaching the airport at 12:17. Motomachi, Mount Hakodate and Goryokaku do not fit into that day, and you stay one night in Hakodate, so one hotel night fewer.
Hakodate Airport also has direct flights to Taipei Taoyuan. Check the operating days when you book; if one fits, you do not need to go back to New Chitose on the last day.
Hotel picks by region
One base per region. For what these rooms cost in late January, see the lodging line in the budget breakdown.
Sapporo (3 nights)
- Mid-tier: Mitsui Garden Hotel Sapporo. Four minutes on foot from the west gate of JR Sapporo Station, with a large public bath (not a hot spring).
- Budget: JR Inn Sapporo-eki Minamiguchi. On the south side of JR Sapporo Station.
- Splurge: La'gent Stay Sapporo Odori. About five minutes on foot from exit 10 of Odori subway station, with a natural hot-spring bath.
Furano / Biei (2 nights)
- Mid-tier: Furano Natulux Hotel. One minute on foot from JR Furano Station, designer-grade rooms. Best if town walks matter more than first lifts: there is no hotel ski shuttle and the public bus is the way up.
- Splurge: New Furano Prince Hotel. Directly on the Furano Zone of the ski resort, with rentals and guest ski lockers in the building, a natural hot-spring bath (¥800 per adult for guests unless the plan includes it), and the café Mori no Tokei a five-minute walk into the woods. The premium pick if skiing is your day-5 plan.
Hakodate (2 nights)
- Mid-tier: La Vista Hakodate Bay. Free-flowing hot-spring baths on the top floor. In the bay area, about 15 minutes on foot from JR Hakodate Station.
- Budget: Hotel Resol Hakodate. Three minutes on foot from JR Hakodate Station. Great if you're using Hakodate as a transit base.
Booking timing tip: book Sapporo first if your dates touch Snow Festival week (4–11 February 2027). It is the most contested week of the winter, and the earlier you book the more choice you have.
Transport: JR Pass math and snow-season bus traps
Full-price JR single tickets for this 7-day route: airport→Sapporo ¥1,230 + Sapporo-Otaru roundtrip ¥800 × 2 + Sapporo→Asahikawa ¥5,440 + Asahikawa→Biei ¥680 + Biei→Furano ¥800 + Furano→Sapporo ¥4,760 + Sapporo→Hakodate ¥9,770 + Hakodate→New Chitose Airport ¥8,910 = ¥33,190.
The 7-day Hokkaido Rail Pass at ¥28,000 has to start on Day 2 to cover the day-8 ride back to the airport, so the Day 1 airport-to-Sapporo leg is a separate single ticket. Pass plus that ticket is ¥3,960 cheaper than single tickets throughout when bought in advance, and still ¥2,960 cheaper if you buy the Pass in Japan (¥29,000). Ride the whole route and the Pass wins; drop the Hakodate leg and single tickets come to only ¥15,740, so skip the all-Hokkaido Pass. For detailed line-by-line calculations comparing the Pass lengths, see our Hokkaido JR Pass complete guide.
7-day budget breakdown: real two-person numbers
Ground costs for two travelers sharing a room, flights excluded. Lodging reflects late-January 2027 weekday rates, most of them with breakfast, as quoted in October 2026; Saturdays add ¥5,000–12,000 a night and Snow Festival week costs more again:
- Lodging 7 nights (Sapporo 3 + Furano 2 + Hakodate 2): ¥160,000–230,000; New Furano Prince Hotel will push you above this range
- Hokkaido Rail Pass 7-day × 2, plus Day 1 airport-to-Sapporo single tickets × 2: ¥58,460
- Ski day pass + ski set × 2 (Day 5): ¥34,200 (day pass ¥9,000 plus set ¥8,100, two people; the set is the 2025–26 price and ski wear is extra)
- Attractions and the Blue Pond bus (Asahiyama Zoo, Mt. Moiwa, Mt. Hakodate, Goryokaku Tower, Dohoku Bus): about ¥16,000
- Food 7 days × 2 people (estimate, about ¥2,100–2,500 per person per lunch or dinner): ¥55,000–65,000
- Local transit (subway, tram, bus): ¥10,000–11,000
- Two-person total: ¥333,660–414,660 (excludes flights, souvenirs and luggage forwarding)
- Souvenirs are extra.
Skipping the ski day brings the total down to about ¥299,460–380,460. Round-trip flights to New Chitose (CTS) vary widely by season; compare prices on Trip.com Taipei-Sapporo flights (book 8-12 weeks ahead for the best rates).

Winter packing list and the snow-boot timing trick
Hokkaido is Japan's most extreme winter zone — pack accordingly:
- HEATTECH Extra Warm long-sleeve thermals × 4, thermal tights × 4 (the most critical layer)
- Sweaters or fleece pullovers × 3
- 700+ FP windproof, waterproof long-cut down parka × 1 (single most important item)
- Snow pants or fleece-lined jeans × 2 (regular jeans give up below -5°C)
- Anti-slip snow boots × 1 (buy in Sapporo at UNIQLO ¥3,000-5,000 — don't fly with them)
- Beanie × 1, waterproof gloves × 1, scarf × 1 (wool gloves get wet in snow)
- Hand warmers ×10-15 (also stocked at every Japanese convenience store)
- Lip balm and moisturizer (dry cold causes severe chapping)
Full Hokkaido clothing strategy and the four-season packing playbook are in What to Wear in Japan: complete pillar guide; the Hokkaido subsection covers -10°C-grade gear sourcing.
12 common Hokkaido winter mistakes
- Wearing a temperate-zone "winter coat" to Hokkaido. Coats from Taiwan or southern US states function as windbreakers at best in -10°C. Plenty of travelers buy a real parka at New Chitose UNIQLO within 90 minutes of landing.
- Wearing sneakers as snow boots. Hakodate's Motomachi slopes, Otaru canal area, and Sapporo Odori all freeze. Falls on icy stairs are the most common winter injury.
- Lugging large bags between cities. Use Yamato (Kuroneko) takkyubin between hotels: ¥1,500-2,500 per bag, arrives same afternoon.
- Not checking JR snow-storm cancellations. January-February blizzards routinely halt the Hakodate Main Line and Chitose Line. Check JR Hokkaido's website daily.
- Renting ski gear on the ski day. Peak-season rental shops get queues. At New Furano Prince, use the rental shop on the hotel's GF floor, open from 08:15; if you arrive by bus, the resort points day visitors to the Kitanomine Terminal shop.
- Turning up at peak dinner time. Daruma takes no reservations at most branches and Hanamaru sushi queues at the dinner peak, so go early, or pick Daruma's 7.4 branch, which does take bookings.
- Underestimating jet lag. Sapporo sunset is 16:30; pushing through to 23:00 on day 1 leads to a cold by day 3. Sleep at 21:00 the first night.
- Phone in outer-coat pocket. At -10°C, phones drain to zero in 30 minutes if exposed. Keep them inside an inner layer with a hand warmer attached.
- Staying only in Sapporo. 70% of Hokkaido's character lives outside the city. Skipping Otaru, Furano, Hakodate means seeing one-third of the prefecture.
- Visiting Dec 29 - Jan 3. Worst possible cost-performance: peak flight and hotel pricing nationwide, attractions closed for New Year, and weather most volatile.
- No 20,000mAh+ power bank. Cold + photo + navigation drains phones startlingly fast.
- Booking too late. Snow Festival week in Sapporo (4–11 February 2027) is the most contested week of the winter; the earlier you book, the more choice you have.
